Rickter Scale originated in 1993, developed by Keith Stead and Rick Hutchinson to address the unique challenges faced by young offenders and their families, particularly those who were socially excluded and grappling with obstacles in education, training, and employment.
This innovative method revolves around measuring authentic personal achievements, guiding individuals from unbalanced lifestyles to stability, navigating from a stuck state to embracing responsibility, and facilitating strategic planning for a renewed sense of purpose.
Operated under The Choiceworks Partnership, our initial commercial product strategically blended motivational assessment and evaluation techniques to capture nuanced 'softer client outcomes'.
The success of The Rickter Company (2001-2017) led to widespread demand from 6000 organizations across 23 countries. During this period, we trained over 22,000 practitioners, established international associate partnerships, featured in media campaigns, and engaged in various scientific studies.
In 2017, Rickter Scale transitioned under new management as Keith Stead Associates, maintaining its success over the next four years despite challenges in the global economic landscape.
A transformative phase unfolded in 2021 when UK award-winning educationalist Martin Dennis Timoney collaborated with Keith Stead to co-create Rickter Scale 2.0. Their joint commitment aimed to address the widespread impact of Covid-19 on the global community, leading to the creation and testing of new language that would support the global response to community impact recovery.
Acknowledging the growing need for remote and hybrid training through technology and artificial intelligence, the launch of the online global community portal - ownyourfuture.world - became the next pivotal step.
Supported by a new operations management team, headquartered in Covent Garden, London, UK, and Broadway, New York, USA, this initiative embodies our commitment to adapting and innovating in the evolving landscape of personal well-being and community development.
