Jean-Marc Sheitoyan, PMP, Founder and Strategic Innovation Advisor at Spaces for Being, spoke at the Symposium on Composite Materials on November 8, 2023, in Saint-Jérôme, Québec. The event, focused on Innovation and Circular Economy, was organized by the Centre de développement des composites du Québec (CDCQ) and the Regroupement des Industries des composites du Québec (RICQ).

Below is a summary of his talk:

“Building a Culture of Collaboration and Innovation”

Organizations today operate in environments defined by complexity, volatility, and constant change. Beyond strategy and technology, the real constraint often lies in communication breakdowns, misalignment, and erosion of trust. These challenges directly impact execution, engagement, and overall performance.

This reality is amplified in hybrid work contexts, where reduced in-person interaction can weaken cohesion and increase the risk of disengagement or burnout.

Culture is not a soft layer. It is an execution system.

When grounded in clear intent and lived values, culture enables:

  • High-quality dialogue

  • Trust-based relationships

  • Alignment across teams

  • Coordinated action toward shared outcomes

Collaborative innovation emerges in this context.

It is not the result of isolated ideas, but of people working together on problems without obvious solutions, combining perspectives to create new value. Organizations that strengthen interpersonal capabilities, communication, and mutual understanding unlock a powerful lever:

👉 Better alignment → stronger execution → sustained innovation
