Flower of Life:
7th Century BC

  • An ancient symbol of sacred geometry representing the creation and growth of all living things.

  • Overlapping geometric pattern using a single shape, the circle, symbolizing oneness, wholeness, unity and never-ending.

  • 1 outer circle and 19 smaller, equal-sized and overlapping circles that create 19 equal-sized, six-pointed petal flowers.

  • The number 19 is associated with new beginnings, leading to personal growth and enlightenment.

  • Throughout time, this image has stood for creativity, community and connectivity.

1958 Peace Sign

  • Symbol designed in 1958 by Gerald Holtom for the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), a group at the forefront of the peace movement in the UK.

  • Adopted by anti-war and counterculture activists in the US and elsewhere.

  • Known internationally as the “Peace Symbol”, the “Peace Sign”, and “Peace and Love”.

  • Super-imposition of the flag semaphore for the characters "N" and “D", taken to stand for "nuclear disarmament".

  • Design inspired from Francisco Goya's painting The Third of May 1808, aka “Peasant Before the Firing Squad”.

1960s V Sign

  • The V sign is a hand gesture in which the index and middle fingers are raised and parted to make a V shape while the other fingers are clenched. It has various meanings, depending on the circumstances and how it is presented.

  • During the Vietnam War, in the 1960s, the "V sign" with palm outward was widely adopted by the counterculture as a symbol of peace and still today in the United States and worldwide as the "peace sign".

New Peace Hand Sign

  • Reinvented and redefined hand gesture that can literally be simply, easily and quickly made by anyone, of any age in the entire world.

  • Start with the current two raised and spread fingers, then simply cross them together as ONE.

  • Unlike the old peace sign with two fingers spread apart, these two fingers have come TOGETHER as ONE in a very familiar, accepted and positive sign of peace, good luck and hope.

It's Up to Us!

If Peace is to have a real chance, people need to stand up, speak up, take responsibility, take charge and have the courage to act. Achieving peace is a pipe dream to me unless the people take meaningful action together, even if it is only to achieve peace in their corner of the world, no matter how big or small.
